This is a first and a great advance for women who have had a breast removed: the personalized breast prosthesis of Meavanti brand. This one has the same skin color, the same shape of the nipple and the same weight as the other breast, to within a few grams. This model, marketed since September 2018, was created by a Haute-Garonne start-up.

A custom-made prosthesis made in 10 days
Every year, 20,000 women with breast cancer undergo a mastectomy, that is to say the removal of the diseased part. While waiting for a possible breast reconstruction, many use standard external prostheses. Most are used to fill the cup of the bra, but have neither the appearance, nor the color, nor the weight of their other breast. They are therefore not perfectly adapted to the morphologies of women, and can cause imbalance and discomfort. Indeed, beyond the devastating psychological aspect represented by such an ordeal, patients often have an asymmetry in the chest and associated back pain.
This new type of breast prosthesis tries to solve these problems. With him, the breasts look alike. They have almost the same weight, while the standard models are sometimes 200 grams apart. The shape and color of the breast, up to the nipple, are identical. A made-to-measure prosthesis, made in about ten days, with which it is possible to put on a high neckline without any difference being visible. A real breakthrough.
And to get this prosthesis, just go to a pharmacy. The pharmacist will take all the necessary measures for its manufacture using specialized software. Once ready, the prosthesis will be delivered to the same shop.
Clothing suitable for women who have had a mastectomy
For women who have had one or both breasts removed, whether or not they choose breast reconstruction, there are also asymmetrical garments offered by the brand. Unicycles. The clothes have, for example, ruffles or drapes that fill in the absence of the breast.
Another initiative: the Completely Woman association has released two models of swimsuits adapted to the morphology of women who have had a mastectomy: a sports/swimming bra and a one-piece swimsuit. Solutions increasingly adapted to women, to help them live better after an ablation, with or without breast reconstruction.
