Good news: since July 1, 2017 and the implementation of the Health Law supported by the former Minister of Health Marisol Touraine, medical certificates are valid for a period of 3 years (instead of one year up to here). Today, to register (or re-register) for a sporting activity, if you have a medical certificate less than 3 years old, you just need to answer a simple health questionnaire.
For teens who play rugby: an electrocardiogram
But beware: this provision does not apply to all sports. Thus, if your child practices boxing, scuba diving or rugby, the presentation of a medical certificate less than one year old remains essential. And since August 15, 2017, there is no longer any question of making a quick visit to the doctor: to obtain a medical certificate intended for the practice of a valid sporting activity, specific medical examinations will have to be carried out.
Thus, for children aged 12 and over playing rugby, an electrocardiogram (ECG) will be necessary, to be renewed every 3 years. In addition, “cervical remnography every 2 years, or even every year depending on the position and age in rugby” will be requested, according to the text published in the Official Journal.
