To fight against shortage of doctorsin the hospital sector, the Ministry of Health had promised a “plan for the attractiveness of medical practice in public hospitals” in 2015. This Thursday, March 16, financial incentivesenter into force after the publication of the decree on Wednesday in the Official Journal. They concern specialties with a high rate of vacancies at the national level or in certain territories.
Concretely, the decree provides for the establishment of “engagement bonuses” from 10,000 to 30,000 euros for young graduates who decide to pursue a career in hospital medicine. This flagship measure of the plan estimated at 250 million euros by 2019, grants bonuses of 10,000 euros gross if the practitioner chooses one of the two specialties presenting “significant recruitment difficulties” at the national level, namely anesthesia- resuscitation and radiology, specifies the decree taken up by AFP.
Promote public hospitals and retain practitioners
20,000 euros gross will be paid to the practitioner if his specialty “is or is likely to be insufficient in the establishment in which he practices”. The two premiums may be combined for anesthesiologists and radiologists.
In return, the young graduates undertake to take the competitive examination for a hospital practitioner and to remain, once established, for at least three years in this position, recalled the Ministry of Health.
For its part, the public establishment must offer the young doctor a full-time job under the status of hospital medical staff, until his appointment as a hospital practitioner within the establishment.
