A giga-SUV with 750 hp
The first own model of BMW’s M division was of course the graceful M1 from 1978. The division was given more than 40 years to brood on a successor with the same class – and now comes with this. You’re looking at the BMW XM Concept. Or Concept XM, as BMW calls it. Think of it like the BMW X8, but with a different name. In 2022, a production version of this gigantic SUV is expected. It will be BMW M’s most powerful car ever.
A V8 works together with an electric motor for a total power of 750 hp and a torque of 1,000 Nm. “The design of the BMW Concept XM is an extravagant statement from BMW M at the heart of the luxury segment,” said Domagoj Dukec, design boss at BMW. “The XM has a unique personality and embodies an expressive lifestyle like no other BMW model.” The BMW XM Concept would also indicate the direction for the future of the brand.
The grille of the BMW XM lights up
BMW likes to put some extra emphasis on the kidneys by giving them a luminous frame. The headlights consist of two separate modules per side. On the side, the rising window line should give the impression of a coupé. The two BMW logos in the rear window are a nod to the 1M, which also had two logos on the buttocks. In addition, there are Exhausts, with the capital U. Don’t forget to take a look at the roofline, seen from behind.
Deep-pile carpet inside
The interior is just as extravagant as the exterior. Instead of the standard perforated leather with red stitching, BMW has opted for vintage leather and carbon fiber with woven copper wire. The shape of the exhausts is reflected in the operation of the air conditioning. BMW calls the rear seats the M Lounge, with passengers burying their socks in deep-pile carpet. We don’t blame you if you are a bit overstimulated after seeing the interior photos.
