Urgent blood needs

The French Blood Establishment hopes to be able to count on 25,000 additional samples by December 31 in order to be able to build up reserves of blood products.

But the blood does not freeze. Its lifespan is only 5 days for platelets and 42 days for red blood cells. It is therefore necessary to give whatever the time of year. Each year, 1 million people suffering from cancer and blood diseases benefit from blood donation and, every day, no less than 10,000 blood donations are needed to meet needs throughout the territory.
