The form of acid found in beer is known as orthosilicic acid. This acid is the water-soluble form of silicon that is found in particular in seawater.
Silicon is present in many tissues and fluids in the body. It plays an important role in the health of bones, joints, blood vessels: British researchers have discovered that it is also present in large quantities in the lightest and least malted beers.
They conclude that moderate beer consumption could help fight osteoporosis.
