Of them. This is the number of quadruplet births that took place in France in 2015, according to the National Institute of Demographic Studies (INED). A rather rare phenomenon experienced by a young woman of 29 from La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime). Already the mother of two children aged 9 and 4, she brought into the world, on July 4, three boys and a girl, at the maternity hospital in Poitiers (Vienne). Thanks to this happy event, the family, which wishes to remain anonymous, goes from four to eight members.
Parental leave of three years
The quadruplets, christened Tyago, Elyo, Lenny and Elyna, weighed 1.740 kg, 1.4 kg, 1.6 kg and 1.640 kg respectively at birth. They have since gained weight and are in good health. But one thing is certain: they have upset the daily life of their young parents: “I took parental leave for three years, there must be enough hands to take care of it!”, Explains to South West Nicolas, the father, 33 years old.
The couple’s secret to facing their new life with confidence? The organization! “At night, they wake up in pairs, not at the same time. What is needed is to be well organized so as not to be overwhelmed. We have time to do things on the side and we do not even have to resort to a nanny, ”says Nicolas. Everything is going so well that this young dad of six children says it loud and clear: “If I had to do it again, I would do it again!”.
