According to this association, only one in five children is today followed by a pediatrician, three times less than the European average. She also estimates that in 10 years the profession is likely to disappear completely.
To fight against the end of pediatrics, the association is launching a petition in order to make the public authorities react, the first responsible according to it for the disappearance of this profession, pediatrics being limited to 200 professionals each year.
However, pediatrics remains today an essential area of health, children are not “miniature adults” and require special care according to AFPA.
