Nowadays you can also buy bitterballen from the oven. Do they have fewer calories than fried bitterballen after preparation?

In the calorie checker of the Nutrition Center you will find nutritional values of products. Here you see that there are even more calories in the bitterballen from the oven and more saturated, and therefore unhealthy, fat.
Bitterball from the oven (15 grams)
Energy: 45 kcal
Fat: 2.7 g
Saturated fat: 1.3 g
Carbohydrates: 3.4 g
Bitterball deep fried (15 grams)
Energy: 35 kcal
Fat: 2 g
Saturated fat: 0.9 g
Carbohydrates: 2.5 g
To ensure that the special oven bitterballs still get crispy in the oven, they are composed differently from the normal bitterballen, which become crispy due to the frying fat. The annoying thing about these types of products is that they seem healthier, while they are not necessarily so. This could give you the idea that you can eat them more often, or eat more of them, and that will not do you much good in terms of health. Therefore, always remember with snacks: not too much and not too often.

Sometimes packaging and product images are somewhat misleading. So check the nutrition charts on the packaging to see if a healthier-looking product is actually a better choice. Are you fooled by the label? Test yourself on: www.voedingscentrum.nl/label
