Indeed, thanks to several experiments, scientists have discovered that the ketogenic diet (which “modifies” the metabolism so that the body consumes fats rather than sugar) significantly reduces inflammatory reactions in the brain, which we know now implicated in the development of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and even multiple sclerosis.
“Inflammatory reactions in the brain are controlled by many factors: eating habits, for example,” explain the researchers, who published their work in the specialized journal Nature Communications.
