Despite all the transmission towers that are on fire, the 5G telephone is quickly conquering the pocket.
Research by MoneyTransfers shows that the number of 5G-enabled phones has grown by 60 percent in the past year. As a result, we are now close to the total acceptance of 5G telephony. The fact that there is more and more supply also means that there is more and more demand. Otherwise you won’t be selling the technology.
The first phones with 5G came on the market in 2019, where the Korean Samsung and the Chinese Huawei led the way. But it was also a bit of a chicken and egg story. Because for a 5G phone you also need a 5G network. And that is just a bit more complicated than its predecessor 4G. More antennas are needed that are closer together.
What was that again?
We use more and more data on our phones and so we need more bandwidth. The 5G technology brings an improvement of data transfer of 20 times over 4G. The connection speed is 10 times faster. This is certainly not superfluous with the rise of video streaming.
The start was somewhat hesitant, but now considerably more devices have become available in 2021 than the year before. The researchers expect that by 2025 more than 3 billion people will be using 5G technology. 2022 has already been underway for several months, so the number of devices with 5G has continued to grow. So also Jonathan Merry, CEO of Money Transfers†
We expect the number of 5G-enabled phones to grow in the coming months. Companies bring or announce the production of new models. In addition, the technology behind these devices has improved since their initial release. It is therefore not surprising that sales are increasing rapidly
Where is that fast mobile internet?
The adaptation of the 5G telephone is therefore gaining momentum. But it’s not all the same everywhere. Another party has investigated this again. Viavi Solutions looked at the state of affairs, worldwide, and concluded that about 2,000 cities in 72 countries are already equipped with 5G connectivity. China leads the way with 356 cities and the US comes in second with 296 cities. The perhaps somewhat surprising number three are the Philippines, which have already come this far in 98 cities. The first European country is Spain in sixth place and Italy in seventh place. The Netherlands is not in the top 10.
