Ziggo customers can take out a Viaplay subscription
A lot is going to change for F1 fans next year. For example, the drivers will drive completely new cars, Olav Mol will disappear after thirty years as a presenter and Nelson Valkenburg and Melroy Heemskerk will do the reporting. Fortunately, one thing remains partly the same. At least in part. Ziggo customers can also watch F1 next year, but they have to take out an extra subscription. For this, Ziggo concluded a deal with the Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT), the new owner of the rights of F1.

Unfortunately it will not be free. If you want to watch F1 on Ziggo next year, you have to take out an extra subscription. By checking the Viaplay subscription at Ziggo, you get access to the races, but also the Viaplay films and series. Other sports such as the Bundesliga, Premier League and PDC Darts can also be viewed. KPN customers can also tick the extra subscription in their package.
What is Viaplay again?
Viaplay is a Netflix counterpart from Sweden. Just like the popular streaming service, they will also make their own series and films, also in Dutch. This year it became clear that NENT, Viaplay’s parent company, had bought the rights to F1 for a lot of kinks. For a long time it was unclear how you could watch F1 in 2022. NENT reports that Viaplay will be available through ‘third parties’ from March 2022, but you can also take out a subscription directly, just like with Netflix.
Ziggo about the F1 collaboration
The deal between NENT and Ziggo will run for several years. Robin Kroes, Chief Strategy & Content Officer at VodafoneZiggo: ‘We want to give our customers easy access to all their favorite content, including sports. This partnership helps to achieve that goal, so we are pleased to have partnered with Viaplay.”
Kim Poder, the commercial boss at NENT: ‘We are delighted to announce this long-term deal with one of the leading operators in the Netherlands. Ziggo has significant reach and established foothold in the sport, and we will work together to introduce Viaplay to as many viewers as possible. Thanks to this collaboration, Ziggo customers can easily enjoy our unique offer from day one.’
