Under the aegis of its new French boss, Jean-Philippe Imparato, Alfa Romeo aims to return to the fore with the arrival by 2027 of five new models. In addition to replacing the Giulietta, Giulia and Stelvio, the brand will expand its catalog with two SUVs.
stay t[Mis à jour le 15/11/2021] In the fall of 2019, Alfa Romeo announced clear cuts in its product plan with the outright elimination of Alfa Romeo 8C and Alfa Romeo GTV coupes. The Milanese premium firm preferring to refocus its offensive on more profitable SUVs, which will share platform and many technical elements with Jeep and ex-PSA models. Tonale production postponed to 2022
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019, in the form of a concept car, the Tonale will share its technical base with its cousin, the Jeep Compass, which will be restyled in 2021. However, it is not expected to go into production before April 2022 , instead of December 2021. This postpones its arrival on the market to summer 2022. Jean-Philippe Imparato, the brand’s new boss, did not find the performance of the plug-in hybrid versions (190 and 270 hp) to his liking. Engineers also reworked the chassis settings and fine-tuned the quality. The range will also include the 1.3 turbo petrol engine (130 and 160 hp) and the 1.5 diesel engine with 130 hp.

An urban SUV at the end of 2023
Since the arrival of the Stelvio in 2017, Alfa Romeo has rolled out its leisure range from top to bottom. After the “Tonale” middle stage, it will be the turn of the small urban B-segment SUV to make its appearance. Put into production at the end of 2023 for a probable release at the beginning of 2024, the one we currently call Brennero will share its CMP platform with the Peugeot 2008. With a dimension of around 4.30 m, it will benefit from the latest developments of the 2008 restyled. Namely, the adoption of the new Nidec electric motor and an evolution of the CATL battery chemistry. It will also be offered with the new 1.2 PureTech engine associated with the new e-DCT Punch Powertrain automatic gearbox.

Replacement of Giulia and Stelvio
After the two SUVs, Alfa romeo will attack a new cycle that will lead it to 100% electric. For this, the Giulia and Stelvio will use the STLA Large platform developed by Chrysler-Jeep. The wagon should go into production in 2024 then will follow the following year, the Stelvio 2. They will use the Nidec EDM3 engine which will develop 204 to 449 hp (in 400 and 800 V) depending on the versions. Under the floor will house an ACC battery (from 101 to 118 kWh).
The return of the Giulietta in 2026
A time mentioned in 2024, the project of the new Giulietta has finally slipped to 2026-2027. Mainly for technical reasons since Stellantis will launch a new STLA medium platform which will notably integrate the new interiors developed jointly with Foxconn.
