So far, in terms of voluntary termination of pregnancy, only the procedure was 100% covered by health insurance. As of April 1, consultations, medical biology examinations, pre-abortion dating ultrasounds as well as the consultation to obtain consent will also be fully covered.
This is what the Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Marisol Touraine, announced on Friday during a visit to Family Planning in Paris.
During this visit, the Minister drew up an initial assessment of the national action program for access to abortion launched in 2015 and “of which the majority of the measures have already been taken”, she assured.
She also recalled the existence of the green number allowing all women to obtain discreet information about abortion since this free number does not appear on the telephone bill.
The latest annual study on voluntary termination of pregnancy of the DRESS reported 229,000 voluntary terminations of pregnancy performed in France in 2013. women aged 20 to 24 remain the most affected, with a rate of 28.8 abortions per 1,000 women. But this number continues to decrease among those under 20, with 9.5 appeals per 1,000 women among 15-17 year olds and 21.8 among 18-19 year olds.
