At 4 years old, Mason does not like having his hair cut. Like any boy, you will say. With the difference that the little Briton was diagnosed autistic. It therefore turns out to be even more difficult for his parents to allow a man with a pair of scissors to take care of Mason’s hair. What was hitherto an impossible mission has become a beautiful story acclaimed by social networks: Mason is no longer afraid to go under the hands of a hairdresser.
The feat comes from James Williams, a hairstylist who works at Jim The Trim salon in the town of Port Talbot, Wales.
This 26-year-old man, pair of trendy glasses, trendy hairstyle and tattooed arms, did not let himself be overwhelmed by the pervasive developmental disorder from which little Mason suffers. His strategy consisted in deflecting the difficulty by entering the boy’s “universe” without offending him.
“I finally succeeded”
After many attempts to approach, the hairdresser managed to cut Mason’s hair without him being disturbed. He did it by lying on the floor, pair of scissors in hand. If the posture was not so comfortable, it allowed the artist to take care of the boy’s head, concentrated on playing on a smartphone. The photos of this capillary victory were posted on his Facebook profile and social networks. They have been viewed more than two million times. “Today I finally made it,” enthused James Williams.
When he asked Mason to clap his hands, as a sign of victory, the child threw himself into his arms. A demonstration of affection that touched the hairdresser.
