Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects 210 million people around the world and could become the third leading cause of death by 2030. In France,
3.5 million people suffer from this disease which is characterized by slow and progressive airway obstruction, ultimately causing chronic respiratory failure.
Make patients want to stay active
The Boehringer Ingelheim France laboratory, which had already engaged with patients with COPD by creating a website dedicated to disease, has just opened a Facebook page on COPD (@labpcoetmoi).
“We found that patients felt the need to share information with those around them via this social network, and yet there was no tool directly related to COPD on this social network “ explains the laboratory communication manager.
“COPD can be badly perceived by those around them. Through this page, we want to lead patients into a positive dynamic around their disease and give them back the desire to stay active“ she insists.
