The so-called buck car
‘The’ Mitsubishi Eclipse out F&F doesn’t actually exist. In reality, for The Fast and the Furious six Mitsubishi Eclipses deployed. The most beautiful of all is the so-called hero-car. This hardly drives in the film and is used for close-ups and beautiful shots. It is now located somewhere in the US state of Tennessee. The second hero car had a nice interior and was used for shots of the inside. This car is part of a Dutch collection and unfortunately the previous owner had special ideas for improvements to the interior.
Then there are stunt cars. The first was blown up in the movie and now stands with bullet holes and all in a museum in Las Vegas. The second was sprayed blue and used in the second film. The third stunt car was used sprayed red in the second film. Then there’s a so-called mic-rig car, which was sawed to pieces and mounted on a trailer for shots of the actors as they drove. These were the movie stars among the movie cars.

And then we come to this one: the buck car, which can now be yours. For example, cameras and microphones were attached to this for driving shots. So this Eclipse had to work on set, but he didn’t have as hard a life as the stunt cars. Incidentally, this copy is not as fast as the car on the silver screen. This is a simple 2.0-liter four-cylinder without turbo and with an automatic transmission. It does seem to have the correct 18-inch rims underneath. Good news, because replica builders are desperately looking for a set of these Axis Se7en wheels. Unfortunately, the center caps seem to be missing.
There are also other imperfections, for example the fit of the body kit. The Robocar bumpers in the movie were replicas of Bomex bumpers, so that seems pretty accurate. The headlights don’t quite match those of the car from the movie, they aren’t dark enough for that. The interior is almost standard, although the center console did receive carbon fiber stickers. Invest yourself in a laptop with ‘Danger to Manifold’ in a Powerpoint. The APR Performance rear wing is beating again.
