Or other safety parts
As with clothing, there are certain brands of auto parts that are particularly popular with certain subcultures. Take those trendy green Takata belts that are regularly draped over Bride chairs. Lovers of the JDM genre know exactly what we’re talking about.
The problem is that the stuff costs quite a bit. For a set of green belts you have lost about 400 euros and for two Bride chairs you should not be surprised if it goes towards 3,000 euros. Certainly if the destination is a Civic of 1,500 euros, it is a bit on the high side.
Put counterfeit goods in your car
And so you sometimes see that enthusiasts go to AliExpress-like websites for fake belts, replica seats or cheap steering wheels with an expensive brand. The video below shows why that’s a particularly bad idea. There is, of course, a reason why good stuff is more expensive. Partly because of a nice profit margin, but also because they have to meet certain requirements and the manufacturers have to use good materials.
If you still want something from an expensive brand, buy a nice key ring. Or save those fake parts to use with your racing sim, it doesn’t matter that much if you fly out of the corner. If you would still like a five-point belt and a bucket seat, then get some house brand stuff from a good motorsports company. Then you may not drive with the logo, but at least you won’t fly through the windshield.
Why you shouldn’t buy fake seat belts
