At Monterey Car Week, Pininfarina unveils the (small) production Battista, in a finish that highlights its carbon fiber bodywork. The electric hypercar has a power of 1,900 hp. Only 150 copies have to be produced.
The young Italian-German manufacturer Pininfarina, independent of the eponymous design studio, presents the final version of his Battista. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2019 with a prototype close to the series, the electric hypercar makes its debut today in its final configuration on the occasion of Monterey Car Week, in California (United States), where some of the most exclusive cars on the planet are exhibited each year.
The Battista shows off its carbon
For its first American turns of the wheel, the coupe shows off the carbon fiber of its body, covered with a gloss varnish but not painted. It features forged and polished five-split-spoke aluminum rims. In the passenger compartment, we first notice the blue of the bucket seats in Alcantara, then the inserts in brushed and anodized black aluminum.
TO HAVE. The best and the worst Pininfarina creations
Electric, the supercar turns green
Pininfarina confirms the performances announced for the Battista. The four electric motors deliver 1900 hp and 2300 Nm of torque to the all-wheel drive. Enough to bring down the 0 to 100 km / h in less than 2 s. The 120 kWh battery installed in a T, which contributes to a mass distribution close to that of a mid-rear engine car, offers 500 km of range according to the manufacturer’s simulations. The latter is currently tweaking the sound generated by the car as it rolls and relies on feedback from customers (confirmed and potential) to improve it. This evolving sound signature is based on a note of the bass with a frequency of 54 Hz, i.e. a multiple of ” the de Verdi ”of 432 Hz slightly lower than the the 440 Hz today used as a reference tuning fork
Only 150 copies of Pininfarina Battista are to be produced in Italy. This competitor of the Rimac Nevera and Lotus Evija costs more than 2 million euros each.
