Charging Apple Devices
9to5Mac and AppleInsider report that the company maybe is willing to explore ‘new’ territory. Apple briefly posted a support document for a “35W Dual USB-C Port Power Adapter” on its website. This glimpse into the future doesn’t give us much detail or imagery, but it is said to support the USB Power Delivery fast charging standard. And that’s good news, because then you can charge your iPhone much faster, for example.
It’s unclear whether it will use GaN or offer any special features. However, the 35W suggests that this would be intended for mobile devices rather than Macs. You could quickly charge an iPhone 13 Pro Max and still leave enough power for an Apple Watch or AirPods. Multi-port chargers aren’t exactly rare among Apple’s competitors.
When
It is uncertain when Apple will release the dual-port power adapter. This isn’t the kind of product that would get screen time at an event like WWDC, it’s not that special. Also, there is no guarantee that it would debut along with a more well-known device.
