PMS (premenstrual syndrome) occurs before menstruation and causes severe abdominal pain, headaches and mood swings.
Every month the woman’s body prepares itself by means of the menstrual cycle for possible conception and pregnancy. During the menstrual phase of the cycle, also known as your period, the endometrial lining of the uterus removed and replaced after a while.
This process is initiated by a shift in hormone levels generated by the pituitary gland and ovaries. These hormonal changes can cause physical and emotional stresses typical of premenstrual syndrome, or PMS, such as headaches, cramps, breast tenderness, nausea, and mood swings.
Some symptoms of PMS become lit through exercise, rest, stress reduction and a healthy diet. A doctor can prescribe medications to relieve severe PMS symptoms.
