BMW is preparing the restyling of the 1 Series. The compact could gain a slightly more imposing front face on this occasion. A reduction in the range is also to be expected. On the engine side, the offer should change little.
In 2019, the BMW 1 Series made its revolution. The third generation of the compact has abandoned the rear-wheel drive of its predecessors to become traction (all-wheel drive optional), at the same time abandoning the six-cylinder for a “four-legged” still turbocharged at the top of the range. At the same time, it adopted the more complex aesthetic language that the brand was introducing at the time. This design will evolve again soon with the mid-career restyling of the model.

Aesthetic consistency of range
The facelifted 1 Series could take over some styling cues from the new 2 Series Active Tourer, starting with a slightly enlarged grille and contours of the front air intakes in body color instead of black. The front lights could be refined in the operation to give the car even more aggressiveness. On the stern, the changes could be limited to a redesigned shield, or even a new light signature.

A simplified offer for the restyled 1 Series?
Like other models such as the recently restyled X3, X4 and 8 Series, the 1 Series could see its range reduced during this update. The combinations of engines, transmissions and finishes would be fewer. The entry-level variants would be better equipped, which would be accompanied by a significant increase in prices. The digital dashboard and the “large” 10.23-inch central screen could notably join the standard staffing, with an improved infotainment system and new driving aids. No major evolution is to be expected under the hood; a micro-hybridization could however be introduced on certain engines. The restyled BMW 1 Series is expected for 2023.
