Dacia announces that it has assembled 7 million vehicles in its Mioveni plant, the brand’s first production center inaugurated in 1968. Now supported by other factories, these facilities currently host the Jogger on their assembly lines.
Dacia was founded in 1966 when the Romanian government called on Régie Renault to help it create a national automobile manufacturer. The brand was acquired by the Renault group in 1999 and its historic factory, located in Mioveni not far from the city of Pitesti in Romania, is still in operation. On January 18, 2022, it passed the milestone of 7 million vehicles produced across six model generations.

Mioveni, the heart of Dacia
The Mioveni factory was completed in 1968 and began its activities with the assembly of the Dacia 1100, Renault 8 rebadged with which the brand made its debut. In 1969 came the Dacia 1300, alter ego of the Renault 12 and the firm’s first major success. After the end of the initial contract and over time, Dacia broke away from Renault in terms of design while continuing to base its vehicles on the R12 but also the R20 until the 2000s. The first 100% Romanian Dacia, the Nova was born in 1995. In 2004, the manufacturer and its factory entered a new era with the production of the original Logan.

The Mioveni story continues with the Jogger
Today Dacia assembles the Logan, Sandero, Duster and Jogger in Mioveni. Three engines (HR10, KR16, HR09) and a gearbox (TX26) are also produced there, as well as running gear. This large industrial centre, which includes a foundry, employs around 10,000 people.
It is now supported by factories of the Renault group located in Algeria and Morocco for the production of Sandero and Logan, while the Spring is produced in China in the Dongfeng plant in Shiyan as part of a partnership between Renault and the Asian manufacturer. The 7,000,000th Dacia built in Mioveni is a Duster Extreme with TCe 150 engine and EDC gearbox, intended for a Romanian customer.
