The gastronomy of the Asian continent is extremely rich. From China (chili, noodle broths, vegetable or pork ravioli …) to Japan (tempura, sobas, gyozas …), Vietnam (vegetable and meat broth, sautéed noodles, spring rolls … ) to Thailand (grilled fish, spring rolls, shrimp salad …), travelers are spoiled for choice.
When you want to keep an eye on your figure or lose a few pounds, what are the Asian specialties to favor? As a starter, you can opt for a spring roll : this traditional dish – especially in Vietnam – offers an interesting balance between carbohydrates (with the rice cake), proteins (with shrimp or chicken) and lipids (with sesame oil). We prefer to prepare it at home to control sugar and fat levels.
The wok, an ally for the silhouette
As a main course, the best slimming option remains the wok : this typically Asian cooking method only requires a small drizzle of oil (olive, for example) and allows food to be “seared” over high heat for soft meats and crunchy vegetables. In Asia, salt is replaced by spices (top when you have high blood pressure) and in particular by the famous Sichuan pepper, very popular in China.
For dessert, exit the melted chocolate and excess sugar: let yourself be tempted by a fruit salad (no added sugar) with dragon fruit (Huǒ lóng guǒ), lychee (Lìzhī), mango (Máng guǒ) or even mangosteen (Shan zhu).
At a Chinese restaurant, what are the good slimming choices? The following menu is balanced and low in calories: shrimp salad or green salad or bean sprouts or grated carrots (as a starter), chicken skewers with lemongrass and chop suey vegetables or wok of vegetables (as a main course) and jasmine tea without sugar (for dessert).
