In fact, 8.1% of deliveries are premature. They were only 45,000 (or 5.4%) in 1995, 56,000 in 2001 and 60,000 in 2005. Faced with this development, the SOS Préma association is organizing a parliamentary conference on the theme: “Prematurity, the issue of public health”. About 200 doctors, health executives, PMI, deputies, senators are registered. On the program: prevention, care for babies, support for families, ethical questions, follow-up, etc.
From the outset, SOS Préma decided to work with all those involved in prematurity to get things done. Raising the awareness of the public authorities is an important axis since it makes it possible to send back information “from the field” and to make proposals (of law, regulation, etc …).
