88% of French women think “there is no shame” in having sex during their period, a period often accompanied by an increase in libido.
- The menstrual cycle is the set of physiological phenomena, most often occurring periodically, which prepare the woman’s body for possible fertilization.
- The most visible manifestation of these changes is menstruation.
According to a new OnePoll study for INTIMINAa large majority of women are willing to have sex during their period, which remains a taboo in many couples.
“No Shame”
More specifically, the survey, conducted among 2,000 adult and sexually active women, reveals that 69% of French women said they were likely to have sex during their period, and that 88% also thought “that there is no shame” to do it.
The results further showed that 66% of respondents are aware that there is a menstrual cup that can be worn during sex. Many have also reported noticing that having sex during menstruation has multiple benefits such as:
– stronger orgasms (62%) which can act as a natural analgesic for menstrual cramps (69%).
– reduction in the length of the menstrual cycle (61%).
– increased libido (40%), due to increased estrogen and low levels of progesterone.
Create a healthy and safe environment
77% of women also said it was important for them to create a healthy and safe environment when having sex during their period, such as having sex in the shower or bath (77%), sticking to one position (71%) or even using condoms (74%).
