More than 1,000 doctors spread across the whole of France, including 600 department heads, have announced that they will present their resignation on January 14 to protest against the lack of resources in public hospitals.
The situation is still just as tense in the hospital sector. The Inter-Hospitals collective has announced the holding of a press conference on January 14, during which a collective resignation letter signed by more than 1,000 doctors, including 600 department heads, will be made public.
“The resigning doctors will explain the reasons for this decision and its consequences, as well as the requests addressed to the minister” Agnès Buzyn, explains the collective. And to add:Similar press conferences will be organized the same day by the CIH (inter-hospital collective) of the local hospitals”. A threat about to be applied.
“The real Ministry of Health is now in Bercy”
Already last December, 660 hospital doctors had threatened to resign in the columns of the Sunday newspaper if the government did not decide to open “real negotiations to loosen the constraint imposed on the public hospital”. They felt they had “in vain sound the alarm, rigor has become austerity, then austerity, scarcity”. Regretting that “lhe current minister does not fail to show his compassion, but (that) the real Ministry of Health (is) now in Bercy”they felt that government measures were not up to the task.
They are “summed up for 2020 at less than 300 million additional, while the general opinion, it lacks 1.3 billion euros to meet the only programmed increase in charges”, they denounced. “When there are 1,000 of us, we will send our letter to the Minister to urge her to open negotiations with the CIH (Inter-Hospital Collective)… or to join us”, concluded the signatories. A few days after the publication of this forum, other doctors joined the collective, now made up of more than 1,000 health professionals. All would be on the point of leaving their functions.
“No additional budget has been released”
This is particularly the case of Doctor Thomas Dupuy, head of the Emergencies / Samu / Smur center of the Moulins-Yzeure hospital center. The doctor tendered his resignation effective Monday, January 13, explains The mountain. He will therefore leave his administrative functions, which consisted of organizing and managing the emergency services, “radio, resuscitation, pharmacy, laboratory, haemovigilance, prison health units, home hospitalization…”.
Doctor Thomas Dupuy says he supports a national movement. “I am responding to the appeal of the inter-hospital collective, aimed at encouraging the Minister of Health to negotiate better conditions for the public hospital, he explains daily. No additional budget has been made available. The assumption of the debt of public hospitals from a third party does not release any investment capacity. Hospitals are entirely dependent on envelopes issued on a case-by-case basis at the regional level.”
