The PS5 is quite thick, which is why this YouTuber has given the device a thorough renovation.
The Playstation 5 is the console of the moment. It was difficult to get one, but supplies are increasing. So more and more people have one. And then something immediately strikes: it is quite a large monster.
YouTuber builds his own PS5
This YouTuber thought so too and got to work. He built a PS5 that is less than an inch thick. And the cooling system is even better than the original. Sony usually follows up on its PlayStation consoles with a slim version a few years later, but that time has not yet come for the PS5. So while we’re all waiting for a slimmer PS5 that would fit better in tight spaces, a YouTuber named DIY Perks has already built one for himself.
He picked up a standard PS5 and got him apart. He then replaced everything that needed to be replaced to get rid of the mass of the console. He replaced components with similar parts and his own homemade creations. Including the rather bulky housing of the console, to arrive at a device that is only a few centimeters thick.
Cooling system
The cooling system and power supply are great. So what Perks did was build his own water-cooling system and put the power supply in a long, slim external housing that can be placed behind the TV. That is not the case here. Although he ran into some issues that took time to resolve, he was able to get the console working in the end. Its cooling system was even more efficient than the standard PS5s, based on the temperatures it took when trying it out with Horizon Forbidden West.
