Whether they are in countries at war, in refugee camps in Bangladesh or migrants in France, access to care of women is an issue that is rarely discussed in the media. To talk about it, the NGO Action santé femme, which works for access to gynecological and obstetric care for the most vulnerable women in the world, is organizing its women’s rights and health conference this year on the theme of women in armed conflicts. .
Each year, the Parisian event is a way of raising awareness among health professionals and the population about the issue of access to healthcare for the most vulnerable women and the need to educate young people, particularly in sexual and reproductive health.
On the initiative, the NGO Actions santé femme, a collective that brings together midwives, gynecologists-obstetricians and health professionals. He campaigns for the improvement of women’s health in France and around the world. Each year, she takes part in around fifteen humanitarian missions across the globe.
Guarantee access to healthcare for the most vulnerable women
Among the actions on the ground, the NGO is present in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Kivu region, where it works in close collaboration with Dr Denis Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize 2018, to promote access to obstetric care of the population subjected to abuses because of the use of women as a “weapon of war”.
The conference, under the patronage of Agnès Buzyn, Minister of Health, will be an opportunity to address all these issues of access to care in the presence of humanitarian actors and health professionals.
