With vegetables and bread, fill up on fibre!

Popular beliefs about the benefits or harms of foods don’t always reflect the truth. For example, vegetables and bread, not always well regarded, but which nevertheless allow you to fill up with fiber.

THE ESSENTIAL
  • Fiber is essential for a balanced diet.
  • Fiber is found in fruits and vegetables as well as bread.
  • However, fat should not be neglected in the diet but favor good fats, in particular those contained in certain oils.

Fruits and vegetables

Fruits are seen as the healthiest foods on the market. However, it should not be ignored that they are very sweet, even if they have proven their usefulness in significantly reducing the risk of recurrence of infarction and arterial hypertension. Vegetables have the same properties without the disadvantages of the sugar contained in fruits. However, vegetables do not benefit from the same rating of love as fruits, and one of the objectives of the summer could be to rehabilitate them. A little culinary imagination is enough.

The oils

There are those that have a good reputation, because they are rich in a type of component whose protective role for our vessels is known: oils made from rapeseed, soybeans, nuts, grapeseeds or wheat germ. Fat is part of our culinary heritage, we must not eliminate it but take advantage of it intelligently and put a damper on bad fats, in the first line pork and beef.


The bread

Another popular category of food, but often misunderstood when it comes to losing weight: bread. An almost perfect food that we envy the whole world. However, in the 1960s, bread experienced a sharp decline in its consumption, on the one hand, because of the medical profession, which considered it responsible for the growth of the population, and on the other hand, because of the excessive industrialization and poorly managed by some bakers.

Today, bread regains a place of choice. It perfectly meets the main dietary criteria: rebalancing the intake of slow sugars, which are often insufficient in our diet, and above all providing the dietary fiber that our food lacks. Fibre, the guarantee of a successful diet!
