Microsoft is currently testing an update for Windows 11. The update makes a number of important changes, which are very welcome.
Windows 11 testers can now access a version of Windows that has many interesting features. For example, users can now create folders in the Start menu and drag apps there to add them. In addition, the Start menu can finally be moved to another screen edge, while that was not possible before.
Test update for Windows 11
Windows 11 gives tablet users a better experience by adding extra swipes. For example, you can now call up the app overview by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. You remove this menu again by swiping down. In addition, you can easily swipe through all available apps and options. Furthermore, from the right corner of the screen, swipe open the Action Center, which gives you access to quick settings.
The new Snap Layout function has also been improved. With this function you place the window on the screen in a convenient arrangement. The function in the test update shows which setups are available. The Focus function also now offers a Do Not Disturb mode, while Live Captions ensures that narration in videos and other content is translated locally. As a result, people with a hearing impairment can also receive what is being said. Very useful when certain content does not offer subtitles by itself.
Finally, Microsoft wants to make computers use less energy by changing the sleep mode. The sleep mode is a bit more aggressive, so your computer gets into that mode faster. Task Manager is also getting an overhaul and now supports a dark theme; In addition, you can quickly set which apps have less or no access to the computer’s resources. It is not yet known when Microsoft will roll out this update to all users.
