You may have noticed: for several weeks, the Caisses d’Allocations Familiales (CAF) have been struggling to process files and delays are accumulating, especially with regard to payments… What exactly is happening? ?
“CAF has been behind in processing files for about 18 months, but it is rather improving“says Nicolas Grivel, Director General of CAF to our colleagues from West France.
Several factors explain these delays. First, “there were difficulties related to the implementation in early 2021 of the housing benefit reform (…) [les retards] are generally due to computer anomalies that have persisted since the reform of personalized housing assistance (APL)“.
About 15 days of waiting for the AAH and the RSA
Second, there are the workforce reductions: “[à la CAF] 2,100 deletions of permanent contracts are planned over the 2018-2022 period for a total of 36,000 agents” underline the unions.
At present, “the average time for all the services managed by CAF (and in particular the APLs) is 17 days ; it is being reduced to 16 days“says Nicolas Grivel. For the active solidarity income (RSA) and the allowance for disabled adults (AAH), “the answer is given in less than 15 days“.
Good news : “simple files, for which we have all the documents, are processed quickly” assures the Director General of CAF. For the most late files, the payments will of course be retroactive. In short, more than to take your troubles patiently…
