The tip to burn fat faster
Burning fat seems to come naturally for some people, while for others it takes forever. How come? And can you do something to burn fat even faster?
Burning fats or carbohydrates
Our body mainly uses carbohydrates and fats as energy sources. Because our body always takes into account periods of little food, stocks are created. There are not many carbohydrates, because they are quite easy and therefore the first to be used for energy combustion. It is different with fats, they are stored in our subcutaneous fat layer as a stock. Fat is also stored between the organs in the abdomen and sometimes even in the organs. Unfortunately, you cannot choose which of the two energy sources is converted into energy, although carbohydrates are often a favorite because of the fast effect.
Different resting metabolisms
Even if you do nothing, you use energy. This energy goes for example to the beating of the heart, breathing, maintaining the body temperature and the functioning of the brain. This is called the basal metabolic rate (BMR); the energy consumption of people at rest. The BMR differs from one person to another and varies by gender, age, height and weight. This is supplemented by two other types of metabolism: the postprandial metabolism (the calorie consumption when digesting a meal) and the exercise metabolism (the calorie consumption after a physical or mental effort).
How to burn fat faster
Regular exercise and a balanced diet increase the basic metabolism, so that you will get more energy from carbohydrates and fats when you are resting. British researchers have previously published a research from which they concluded that people who exercise regularly burn more fat during exercise. The fitter the body is, the more fat is lost. This was especially the case for women. It shows similarities with the results of previous scientific research showing that regular exercise increases basic metabolism, and thus energy expenditure or calories.
Rather exercise than strict diets
If you want to avoid the yo-yo effect after a strict diet, it is better to opt for regular exercise and a healthy diet. Because the body ends up in a survival state with a crash diet, the basic metabolism drops. It then takes a long time for the metabolism to get going again, so that the lost kilos can often be seen again on the scale. The most sustainable way appears to be a healthy diet, supplemented with regular physical activity.
