More than 11 million people are treated daily against arterial hypertension, to which must be added 3 to 4 million hypertensive patients who are unaware of their pathology, a total representing more than 20% of the French population. However, arterial hypertension constitutes an important risk factor in the appearance of type 2 diabetes, a disease very often detected too late (5 or 10 years can elapse between its appearance and its diagnosis).
What is behind the questions
This questionnaires are particularly interested in to your waistline, because “its measurement is a method which can make it possible to evaluate the importance of an excess of abdominal fat and for the doctor, the risk of occurrence of cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes”. But also to your family history because genetic factors play an important role in type 2 diabetes. “If one of the parents is diabetic, children have a 30 to 40% risk of developing type 2 diabetes” underlines the Association française des diabétiques . The physical activity daily and fruit and vegetable consumption are also a factor in determining your risk.
The questionnaire then crosses the answers to the questions to determine your likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes.
