Number one messaging service WhatsApp has been talking about it for years, but is it really coming with this feature?
We do a lot of apps with WhatsApp. Usually via your smartphone, but there has been talk for years about an app for your iPad. Users are practically begging for it. Now WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart has lifted a corner of the veil. He said a WhatsApp app for the iPad may be coming in the near future. In a interview Speaking to The Verge, Cathcart said people have been asking for an iPad app for a long time, and the company “would love to do it.”
Whatsapp function for the iPad
The company sees the potential, but the app is not on the shelf. Cathcart has not mentioned a release date. Meta, the company that owns the messaging service, already has the underlying structure to create one.
“We’ve done a lot of work on the technology to support multiple devices,” he said. “Our web and our desktop apps now have that. If I have multiple devices on, I can turn off my phone or lose my network connection and still get messages on my desktop. That would be very important for a tablet app to be able to use the app even when your phone isn’t on. So the underlying technology is there.”
availabilty
The app is already available on multiple devices. Such as the smartphone, the desktop and the web. There is therefore not (yet) a specific app for an iPad. WhatsApp is testing multi-device support that will allow the desktop and web versions of the app to be used without an iPhone, a functionality that paves the way for the iPad app.
