WhatsApp beta lets you respond with emoji responses

WhatsApp adds emoji reactions to the arsenal of the Android application. This is currently still happening in beta; it is unclear when each user will be able to use it.

The emoji reactions pop up in beta version 2.22.8.3. So if you are a beta tester on Android, you can look forward to a new version of the messaging service. Through emoji reactions, users can respond very quickly to each other’s messages. You simply give a specific message an emoji. Think of an approving thumbs up or a loving heart.

Emoji Reactions on WhatsApp

For example, users no longer have to quote a message and then post a separate comment with an emoji. This can somewhat clean up chats, especially in groups, because then no more empty messages have to be sent that everyone is informed about.

Posting an emoji comment on WhatsApp works like this. You select a message by pressing and holding it. A new menu will then appear, containing six different emoji reactions. These are: thumbs up, heart, (crying from) laughter, shocked, sad and the two folded hands. Usually that last emoji is used to depict gratitude.

The emoji reactions may also come to the apps available on iOS and desktop, as clues have already been found in the code for such options. Unfortunately, Meta, which owns WhatsApp, has not disclosed anything about this.
