La Lyonnaise des Eaux has opened a website to provide information on the quality of the water it offers to consumers and the work carried out on the distribution circuit because, according to the company, one in two French people say they do not not being well informed about the quality of the water.
Tap water is a safe food
Water is the most controlled food and must meet 63 quality criteria set by the Ministry of Health and the Superior Council of the Public Hygiene Sector of France. The DDASS and the distributors carry out daily checks on three indicators: microbiological parameters and two physicochemical parameters: nitrates and pesticides.
This new website therefore allows consumers to access data on the water they consume on a daily basis: lime level, number of bacteriological analyzes carried out over the last twelve months, nitrate or nitrogen content. pesticides, mineral content … For some cities, the route of the water, its origin or even its price are also indicated.
Tap water costs less than bottled water
Tap water is around 142 times cheaper than spring water (like Crystalline which theoretically have the same properties) and around 300 times cheaper than mineral water (which has therapeutic properties). In Ile de France, water is billed at 0.004 euros per liter.
