Discussions on the benefits or defects of foods are always tinged with misconceptions: for example, vegetables and bread that can fill up with fiber.
Fruit conveys a justified image of the healthiest foods on the market. However, it is wanting to ignore that they are full of sugar, even if they have proven their usefulness in very significantly reducing the risk of recurrence of heart attack and arterial hypertension. This is a property that also applies to vegetables, without the downsides of slowing weight loss that you may have programmed into yourself. However, vegetables do not benefit from the same level of love as fruits and one of the objectives of the summer could be to get them out of the thankless role of accompanying the meal. A little culinary imagination is enough, but here we go beyond the doctor’s register.
Don’t neglect the oils
Then the oils. There are those that are called good fats because they are rich in a type of component whose protective role for our vessels is known: oils based on rapeseed, soybeans, nuts, grapeseeds or wheat germ. Fat is part of our culinary heritage. Far from removing it, you have to be able to take advantage of it intelligently but put a damper on bad fats where, alas, you have to put pork or beef in the first line.
Bread, an interesting food
Another category of food that is adored but also often unloved when it comes to losing a little weight, bread. An almost perfect food that we envy the whole world. However, in the 1960s, bread experienced a sharp decline in its consumption – firstly because of the medical profession, which unfairly blamed it for the increase in the population. And, it must be said, because of the excessive industrialization that is badly managed by some bakers.
Today, bread is gradually regaining a place that it should never have lost at the French table. It perfectly meets the main criteria of dietetics: rebalancing the intake of slow sugars, often insufficient in our diet and above all by providing the famous dietary fibers of which our food is very depleted and which we need to fight against constipation. Fibers, the guarantee of a successful diet from the beginning… to the end!
