A 32-year-old Swiss woman launches Green Condom, vegan, gluten-free condoms, the composition of which is indicated on the packaging, and CE certified.
The French are more and more concerned about what they eat and make the success of organic, specific, vegetarian and vegan diets. The health argument is often put forward. They are often less observant with products at least as intimate, and not always very natural.
But after questions about sanitary napkins and tampons, it is now condoms that are the subject of a “natural” facelift. Gabrielle Lods, a 32-year-old Genevan, launches the first brand certified by the logo Vegan European, Green Condom Club. The condoms it offers are guaranteed to be free from animal products, and in particular without casein, a milk protein. They have not been tested on animals either.
List of ingredients
They are also gluten-free, flavor-free, paraben-free, and their complete composition is indicated. If, as a whole, the product may seem a little extremist and futile to some, its production is part of an approach between a commercial argument, surfing the wave of vegan and gluten-free, and real concerns for health.
“There are many components that are used to make the latex softer and thinner, but manufacturers are not required to indicate them,” Gabrielle Lods indignantly. The same goes for diapers and tampons. When you know how these products are used, I find it a heresy. “
Tasteless and odorless
Benefiting from the CE standard, their effectiveness is guaranteed, and the model offered by Green Condom Club has one more advantage. Casein, used to make condoms softer and thinner, can reinforce latex allergies. It also gives them that characteristic odor, not very pleasant. Gabrielle Lods therefore promises condoms that are tasteless and odorless.
It remains to be seen whether they will keep their promises in terms of comfort. Condoms are sold online, for 4.90 euros for three or 12.90 euros for ten.
