This silly tricycle is faster than a Golf R and is now for sale in the Netherlands
Vanderhall sounds like a special Dutch company in terms of name, but it is not. Although founder Steve Hall is Dutch roots has, the company comes from the state of Utah in America. Think of it as an American counterpart of Morgan, for example, where they also make tricycles with two wheels at the front. Entrepreneur Mark Wilbrink thinks the Dutchman is up for a special roadster and opens a showroom in Laren.
Previously you could buy Vanderhall at a dealer in The Hague, but that company has now been transformed into Brute Jeep. According to the Dutch vehicle registration register, there is currently only one Vanderhall on the license plate. This Venice has a 1.5-liter four-cylinder from GM with 175 hp. Vanderhall also sells a Carmel with 194 hp. In addition, there is the Edison, an electric variant with 140 hp. power always goes to the front wheels.
The Vanderhalls are seriously fast machines. They weigh around 650 kilos so the almost 200 horsepower is more than enough. The 0-100 time of the Carmel is around 4.5 seconds. By the way, they are all automatic and the top speed is 225 km/h. Due to the low weight, the road tax is about 10 euros per month. The electric Edison can reach 100 in 4.4 seconds. That is, for example, faster than a Golf R or an Audi S3.
How much does a Vanderhall cost in the Netherlands?
The Venice with 175 hp costs 45,000 euros in the Netherlands with all taxes included. The Carmel is already approaching 60,000 euros. The electric Vanderhall Edison costs 53,000 euros including taxes. According to the new Dutch dealer, people will mainly use the car as a third car. The goal is to sell about 25 per year. By the way, you can drive the Vanderhalls with a car driver’s license, provided you have obtained this before January 2013. A helmet is also not required.
