A British poll reveals that 86% of the population would describe themselves as anxious. The new research, commissioned by UK herbal company Rescue Remedy, found that people surveyed spend an average of an hour and 50 minutes a day worrying. Work, financial problems, being late, the health of a loved one or oneself, are all concerns that concern most of the people questioned by the survey. Additionally, marriage issues, missing a train or bus, having a faulty alarm clock, appearance concerns, and family safety were all listed as the most common worries.
2000 British people were asked by the poll, and 84% of them said they often suffer from lack of sleep because of their worries.
The numbers show that worrying has a negative impact on other aspects of life as well. 60% of participants claimed to have quarreled with their partner because of their worries, and many even attributed their couple break-ups or the loss of a job.
To try to overcome their anxieties, 70% of people said they preferred to talk with a loved one or play sports for to calm down. “Learning how to better manage your worries is important and would allow us to spend less time worrying, and more time enjoying life without having to think about everything that might go wrong,” commented a spokesperson for Rescue Remedy, which creates herbal products to combat stress.
