At the International CES consumer electronics fair, Loïc Cessot, co-founder of the French start-up Kolibree, presented to an AFP journalist their health innovation, a smart toothbrush connected to the Internet.
This internet-connected brush has a sensor capable of detecting your movements and the amount of limescale removed with each wash. It then sends the data to a smartphone app for analysis.
“When you use a normal toothbrush, you never really know what you have cleaned,” Cessot told AFP.
However, this application analyzes the washing and tells you if the brushing was effective, the intensity sufficient, or if certain areas have been neglected.
“With the app hooked up to the Kolibree device, the user can tell if they’ve missed some hard-to-clean areas or haven’t brushed their teeth thoroughly enough. It can also allow parents to check whether their children have brushed their teeth, ”emphasizes Mr. Cessot.
This smart toothbrush rechargeable by induction will be sold at the end of 2014 between 100 and 200 euros. You can then order your toothbrush on the Kickstarter participatory site.
