Mark Zuckerberg’s social media platforms are used by 2 billion people every day. WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and of course Facebook have an almost unimaginable reach.
This was announced by Facebook last week with the publication of its quarterly figures.
The number of monthly Facebook users grew to a staggering 2.27 billion users in the third quarter of 2018. That is an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year. In Europe, the number of users decreased. In the period January to March 2018, Facebook had 377 million users in Europe. In the following quarter, that fell to just 376 million. From July to September, Facebook lost another million users in Europe, dropping the number to 375 million.
In terms of revenue, Facebook is still doing fantastic. Between July and September, turnover rose to EUR 12.2 billion. FB brings in the most money through advertisements. At the bottom of the line, Facebook posted a profit of $5.1 billion in the past quarter. That is 9% more than last year around the same time.
