While its cousins Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Rifter are now only available in electric, the Proace City Verso retains petrol and diesel engines. This could help it attract new buyers, even if its prices are increasing quite significantly at the start of the year.
Stopping the thermal versions of its MPVs: this is the rather radical decision taken by Stellantis at the start of the year. The group thus hopes to maintain its average CO2 emissions2 within the limits imposed on it by Europe, and escape heavy fines. By taking the risk, in return, of seeing the majority of current customers of this type of vehicle leave to compete. One of the big winners in history might even be a partner, Toyota, whose Proace City Verso is none other than a close cousin of the Citroën Berlingo, Opel Combo and Peugeot Rifter.
About ten times less sold in France in 2021 than its “clones” at Lion or Chevrons, and two times less than the Combo Life, the Japanese MPV could well benefit from a sudden resurgence of interest. It indeed becomes the only one of the quartet to keep its gasoline and diesel variants. A choice facilitated by the commercial performance of hybrid Toyotas, such as the Yaris or the Corolla, which allow the brand to meet its CO targets.2 in Europe without too much difficulty. It is also thanks to this that quite greedy sports cars, such as the GR Supra, GR86 and GR Yaris, can still be imported to us!

Prices that increase by €1,100
For the Proace City Verso, however, the month of February begins with bad news, with an increase of €1,100 across the entire range. The recent Electric version is the only one spared since it had already increased by €2,000 in January. It therefore always starts at €37,820 and thus reduces the gap with the other variants. Especially since it retains its €6,000 bonus for any order placed before June 30, while thermal versions have suffered an increased ecological penalty since June 1.er January 2022. But that does not prevent them from remaining much more affordable in the end, with an offer that starts at €24,260 in petrol, excluding malus of €650, and €25,210 for diesel, penalized by a CO tax2 from 230 €. Only applied beyond 1,800 €, the recent penalty on the weight spares these MPVs, even with the longer of the two bodies offered.

Four heat engines and one electric
This tariff inflation also affects the spare wheel option, which goes from 150 to 200 €. On the other hand, it is not accompanied by a modification of the equipment and the range, still composed of five original Stellantis engines. On the unleaded side, we find the 1.2 VVT-i, available in 110 hp with a manual gearbox and 130 hp with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A three-cylinder turbo that you know better as the 1.2 PureTech. The 1.5 D-4D is nothing other than the 1.5 BlueHDi available until recently on the Rifter and Berlingo. It only exists with a manual gearbox and is still offered in 100 or 130 hp. Finally, the Electric version receives the same 136 hp engine and the same 50 kWh battery (46 useful kWh) as on the e-Rifter and ë-Berlingo. A pair that unfortunately does not allow you to enjoy a very high autonomy.
The prices of the Toyota Proace City Verso (2022)
The range is identical on the short body (4.40 m), baptized Medium, as on the long (4.75 m). Please note, if the latter claims an additional cost of €1,000 for the same allocation, it also suffers from a penalty on the CO2 higher.
