The boss of Instagram says that the problem in question for the iPad will not be solved. Unfortunately!
When you think of Instagram, you probably think of the mobile app. Then the strategy of the descendant of Meta has worked, because Instagram has done everything to make Instagram work best through the mobile app. Until recently, for example, you couldn’t upload photos on the web version for a desktop or laptop and everything didn’t work very intuitively for a keyboard and mouse. There was still enough enthusiasm for a somewhat more extensive web version, so there was.
Instagram for iPad
Now that the web version is working better, maybe it’s time to solve another problem? For example, a better working Instagram app for iPad. That’s what tech YouTuber MKBHD, perhaps better known as Marques Brownlee, wondered aloud on Twitter. “The year is 2022 and there is still no good Instagram app for iPad.”
What Brownlee means by that: there is an Instagram app for iPad, but it doesn’t work optimally for iPad. It’s really just the mobile app on a slightly larger screen. You have two options: either the size of a phone screen with large black frames, or the app slightly enlarged (with poor resolution) and still two large black bars (see images below). It is the best solution to the fact that there is no good solution. Especially the keyboard (an enlarged iPhone keyboard and not an iPad keyboard) is actually quite dramatic.
Solution?
Somehow you would say that the solution is simple, but apparently it is more complicated than you think. So complicated that the Instagram boss responds to Brownlee’s tweet with the reply “we’re not going to fix it.” Adam Mosseri, the Instagram boss in question, says it’s often requested, but the number of people who actually want to use Instagram on the iPad is “too small.”
Mosseri does say that it ‘will come someday’. But first, other things have priority. If you want to use Instagram on a big screen, please wait
