In 2013, the majority of French people were already ready to enter the era of digital medicine. In the same year, 83% declared themselves in favor of shared medical records. Overall, the digital health is acclaimed in France. This is confirmed by the 13th edition of the 360° Health Barometer published this November 12 and produced for Orange Healthcare, MNH Group and the French Hospital Federation in partnership with the Figaro Health. Indeed, 68% of respondents believe that the development of e-health will have benefits for patients and caregivers alike and that it will improve the quality of care.
A bond of trust between patients and professionals
According to the survey, the digitization of health would even be perceived as “THE solution that would solve structural problems in our health system”, write the authors. The French are nevertheless concerned about the transparency and some securing around these new uses. More than 4 out of 10 do not know if liberal health professionals (PLS) exchange sensitive information about them with each other. However, 9 of these general practitioners, specialists, nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, dentists or pharmacists out of 10 confirm that they exchange this data, and only a third of them use secure messaging, “out of ignorance or ignorance”.
A situation that risks compromising the bond of trust between patients and healthcare professionals. Today, the latter enjoy 91% good opinions from the French, again according to the barometer. Thus, 8 out of 10 people consider their doctors, nurses and pharmacists to be “competent”, “courageous” and “friendly”.
These professions, notably doctors, are however perceived as “corporatist” and tend to oppose reforms. On the contrary, the French are mainly for: 9 out of 10 support the lowering of the numerus clausus, 69% are for the authorization given to nurses to carry out vaccines without a doctor’s prescription and 53% even validate the extension of this measure. to pharmacists.
