After sweating all day long, you can’t wait to take a good shower to eliminate any odor and any sign of discomfort. And yet, sometimes you come out of it just as sweaty as before. The effect is completely opposite to that expected. It’s not serious, but annoying.
The reason ? “Your body temperature has not cooled down enough. And this for several reasons: the temperature of your shower or your bath is too hot, you have not waited long enough before showering after an activity or exposure to high heat – sweating is a natural phenomenon which brings your body temperature down to 37 degrees”explains Dr. Nina Roos, dermatologist in Paris.
To avoid finding yourself in this situation, here are some tips:
- Wait about 30 minutes after a workout so that your temperature drops;
- Make sure that the rooms in your home are well ventilated;
- Also consider discovering yourself.
The benefits of a hot bath (even when it’s hot)
No need to use a thermometer to check the water temperature. Trust your instincts. “The body knows what it needs“, says Dr. Roos.
If you want to take a hot bath, don’t beat yourself up. It has many virtues:It promotes relaxation, muscle relaxation and falling asleep in some people“, continues the dermatologist. If it makes you sweat, wait about 20 minutes before getting fully dresseduntil your internal temperature drops.
