I am a woman of 68. I have two knee prostheses and joint complaints in several places, such as osteoarthritis in the neck. The last few months I have been suffering from the joints in the ball of the foot. In addition, I occasionally drop unexpectedly and painfully through my right ankle. I can’t wait to be hospitalized again. Do you know a solution?

Arthrosis is a whole skeletal problem and cannot be cured. You can only address the complaints on the spot. Problems with the ankles and feet are complex; there are about thirty joints involved in. Before surgery, there are all kinds of other options, such as advice about the way of walking, exercises to muscles strengthening, adjustments to the shoes, or the use of a brace (support structure) or orthosis (a device that supports and with springs takes over the function of muscles). Sometimes injections of anti-inflammatory drugs help.
I think it’s best to let an orthopedic surgeon see what’s going on and what’s possible. Such a consultation does not mean immediate cutting.
