Spotify HiFi postponed indefinitely

Spotify HiFi postponed indefinitely

Last year, Spotify announced that the company wanted to release the Spotify HiFi subscription before the end of 2021. It is no secret that this goal has not been achieved.

That’s why the music streaming service now brings a update out about the case. In a thread on Spotify’s Community forum, the company announced that the HiFi service has been postponed indefinitely. When details are known about the launch or the subscription, Spotify will bring it immediately, the promise goes.

Spotify HiFi postponed

At the beginning of last year, the company announced that Spotify HiFi would be released before the end of 2021 and that it will be an extra subscription that you can take on top of the current subscription. With this subscription, the service wants to compete against competitors such as Tidal, Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited.

The reason for this delay has unfortunately not been disclosed. Perhaps Apple threw a spanner in the works when Apple Music was provided with music in higher quality, without subscribers having to spend extra money every month. Since it is still the case that Spotify HiFi users will have to pay extra in the future, the company already knows that it is weakening its own position.
