A Smart Forwto transformed into an extreme off-roader and fitted with 30-inch tires is currently for sale in the United States. Equipped with a raised suspension, an exoskeleton and even a winch, she had appeared in a show broadcast on Netflix.
It’s been (almost) a long time since we’ve come across an ad about a car designed for the flattest asphalt and transformed into a shock off-roader. The latest is a 2012 Smart Fortwo, offered at online auction on the American site Cars & Bids. The scale of modifications to the mini-city car is inversely proportional to the gauge of it.

A Smart Fortwo-Terrain
The Fortwo in question was equipped a suspension raised by 20 cm, wider tracks, custom suspension arms and 30-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 15-inch steel rims. Its wings have been cut out to make room; the rear wheels are covered by additional mudguards. The car is equipped with protective plates for its underbody, but also with a white roll bar acting as an exoskeleton over its green bodywork. LED ramps and a roof rack were installed there, as well as a jerry can holder and a spare wheel. A winch has even been attached to the front. The passenger compartment remains surprisingly sober. Apart from the multimedia system, it looks original.
A 71 horsepower adventurer
This realization is all the more comical as it is still the original 1.0 l three-cylinder 71 hp and 92 Nm atmospheric that drives the rear axle through an automatic gearbox. The history of the car, if it has a few holes, does not show any incident. The odometer shows just under 60,000 km. The car appeared in 2018 in the first episode of the show Car Masters : from rust to gold, offered by Netflix. She is currently in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA). As of this writing, the highest bid is $8,123, or €7,460. Bidding is open until April 25.
